Its entries show current booking and charge data. They do not show release date, release time, release reason, custody status, or destination.
This means the current roster cannot be filtered or rebranded as a release list. A person who remains on it is currently listed in the source system. A person who leaves it may have been released, moved to MDOC, transferred to another county or agency, or removed after a correction. The event needs a separate record.
George/Greene County Correctional Facility serves local detainees and MDOC prisoners. That mixed use makes the receiving-custodian field vital. A departure from the county-side listing can still be movement within government custody.
Check George County Same-Day Releases
The quickest useful path combines a current check with direct custody confirmation. Keep one person's identifiers together so staff can distinguish the correct booking. Ask whether the custody episode ended and whether the outcome was community release or transfer.

A booking photo is also available in the current feed, but it is not a release field. The image can help match a booking. It cannot prove when or why that booking ended.
George County Roster Data Quirks
The official feed is searchable and sorted by booking date descending. It displays the person's name, photograph, inmate and booking identifiers, physical description, exact booking time, arresting agency, charge blocks, statute number, and charge description. It does not label custody status. It also does not publish an update cadence or retention rule.
Old booking dates may remain because the regional facility houses long-term MDOC prisoners along with local detainees. They do not prove that the roster preserves old releases. Likewise, the oldest visible booking cannot be used to calculate a retention window. A current listing can lag, and a person processed for release may remain until the source system updates.

The screen is useful for determining whether someone is still listed, but it cannot supply a same-day release timestamp or outcome.
Note: George County publishes no fixed roster refresh time, so never promise that a completed release will vanish within a set delay.
George County Release or Transfer
A local release record should show when a county custody episode ended and why. Bond means physical release under the applicable bond and court terms, but it does not decide the charge. Time served means credited confinement met the custodial part of an order. A dismissal can support release, yet another hold may block departure. Transfer means the person left one custodian or location while remaining controlled by another government agency.
An MDOC prisoner housed at George/Greene remains in the state system. That person may move to another MDOC site, enter parole or earned-release supervision, or reach maximum discharge. George County Sheriff App Releases
The George County Sheriff's Office launched dedicated OCV web and mobile access in late 2025. The app includes Inmate Search and booking photographs served through the same platform as the website. The official feature configuration contains no Recent Releases feature, and launch coverage described the roster as people currently booked in jail.

The app can make current-booking discovery easier, but it does not turn current custody entries into an archive of people released today.
Neither a booking photograph nor a social post should be treated as release proof. If a later app version adds a release view, its date window, release fields, update rate, photograph rules, and retention would all need fresh verification before use.
George County Release-Time Audit Trail
George County has an unusually specific official trail for release times. A State Auditor report quoted Mississippi Code ยง19-25-74 as requiring the sheriff's prisoner meal log to contain each prisoner's name and the date and time of incarceration and release. Auditors found that the reviewed logs lacked those time fields.
The sheriff responded that future monthly reports would be generated through RMS/JMS software and would show incarceration and release date and time. The State Auditor report thus supports a focused request for the RMS/JMS release entry and the statutory prisoner-log entry. It does not guarantee that each older record is complete, and it does not create a public live 24-hour feed.
Submit the completed request form in person at the George County Sheriff's Office, 355 Cox Street, Suite B, Lucedale. The official sheriff records procedure requires advance payment, in-person pickup, and exact cash. No general release-record price is published; the listed accident-report charge must not be applied to release records.
George County Release Record Fallback
Mississippi VINE can supplement the sheriff record when participating source data provides a person-specific event.
